Tamil Nadu Newsprint & Papers (TNPL) is set to invest Rs 600-650 crore in capital expenditure over FY25 and FY26 for various projects. This includes setting up a tissue paper plant, upgrading power infrastructure, and regular maintenance.
To capitalise on growing tissue paper demand, TNPL plans to install a 100 tpd tissue paper machine and auxiliaries at Unit-II, costing Rs 340 crore. This project, funded through Rs 270 crore in debt and internal accruals, is slated for commissioning by March 2026. At Unit-I, TNPL is modernising its steam and power system in phases, replacing the installed low-pressure boilers with two high-pressure boilers (125 tph capacity each) and a 42 MW turbo generator.
The Phase-I, costing Rs 150 crore with Rs 120 crore from debt, involves procuring one high-pressure boiler and is targeted for completion by March 2026. In alignment with environmental goals, TNPL will install one MW rooftop solar plants at both units, with a completion target of July 2026.
