The Tamil Nadu government has signed an MoU with Sarvam AI to establish India’s first full-stack Sovereign AI Park with an initial investment of Rs 10,000 crore.
This project aims to generate 1,000 high-skilled, deep-tech jobs. The AI Park will integrate AI infrastructure, secure data frameworks, model research labs, and an Institute for AI in Governance. It will serve as a sovereign, ethical, and inclusive ecosystem, ensuring that data, models, and computation stay within the state’s trust boundary. Tamil Nadu's Industries Minister TRB Rajaa emphasized that this initiative will enable Tamil Nadu to lead the nation in the scaled deployment of AI across sectors like education, agriculture, healthcare, and citizen engagement.
Arun Roy, Secretary of the Industries Department, highlighted that the park would position Tamil Nadu as a global AI investment hub. IIT Madras Director V Kamakoti added that the initiative will empower Tamil Nadu’s talent to drive AI innovation globally. Sarvam AI co-founder Pratyush Kumar noted the Park's role in transitioning AI from experimentation to real-world impact.
