Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL) will set up India’s largest 10 GW ingot and wafer manufacturing plant in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, with an investment of Rs 6,675 crore.
The greenfield project aims to strengthen domestic manufacturing of critical raw materials used in solar cells, modules, and semiconductor chips, supporting India’s push to reduce reliance on imports. The Andhra Pradesh government has allocated 120 acres at the Iffco Kisan Special Economic Zone for the project, with additional land reserved for future expansion. The facility is expected to generate employment for around 1,000 people and will be powered by a dedicated 200 MW captive green energy plant, a key factor in the company’s location choice. The project has received clearance from the State Investment Promotion Board and awaits Cabinet approval.
Highlighting the state’s appeal, IT Minister Nara Lokesh said, “This project is a strong vote of confidence in our state’s policy stability, infrastructure readiness and commitment to clean energy manufacturing.”
