According to industry sources and a story filed by PTI, Goldi Solar may add around five GW of solar module capacity and 16 GW of cell capacity by FY28 to meet the rising domestic requirement.
Driven by strong policy support and government-led initiatives such as the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, the move aligns with India’s broader ‘Make in India’ vision for renewable energy. The Gujarat-based company currently operates three module manufacturing units near Surat with a combined capacity of 15.2 GW. According to industry sources, Goldi Solar is looking to scale up its module-making capacity to over 20 GW. It already has approvals under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) framework, which promotes domestic manufacturing and reduces import dependence.
As part of backward integration, Goldi Solar is also expected to set up a 1.2 GW cell facility and plans to add another 16 GW of advanced cell capacity for producing high-efficiency bifacial TOPCon N-type modules. The expansion, as per the industry sources will support the increasing demand for solar installations.
