The Telangana government is in the process of finalising a special policy that seeks to encourage setting up satellite townships and distributed development of Hyderabad and other urban areas.
The policy will build on the concept of Growth in Distribution (GRID) strategy, which will focus on development of the city in all directions. Most of the development was in the western part of the city; but now the government will take this to the east, north and south.
The policy was ready for launch but got postponed as Chief Minister of Telangana K Chandrashekar Rao suggested some more changes to pave the way for a holistic development of the city with local transport networks.
Several developers in the state and other parts of the country have come forward to take up new projects. They are also looking at taking them up in new locations other than in the western part of the city which has grown due to the expansion of the IT sector and other services.
