TruAlt Bioenergy has taken signed a binding agreement with US-based Honeywell to licence its ethanol-to-jet technology for a proposed 80,000 tonne per annum (TPA) SAF facility.
The deal marks a key milestone in establishing one of the country’s first grassroots ethanol-based SAF production facilities, building on a memorandum of understanding (MoU) TruAlt had signed in November 2025 with the Government of Andhra Pradesh to develop the SAF plant with an estimated Rs 2,250 crore investment. Honeywell’s Ethanol-to-Jet process converts ethanol from renewable sources into sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel, offering a cost-efficient route to reduce carbon emissions from aviation and road transport while integrating into existing ethanol infrastructure.
“Our proven ethanol-to-jet technology provides a cost-efficient pathway for SAF production and will help TruAlt Bioenergy advance its net-zero ambitions while creating value across the agricultural and energy ecosystems,” said Ranjit Kulkarni, Vice President and General Manager of Honeywell Process Technology India. Once operational, the facility is expected to cut CO2 emissions in the aviation sector and support increased demand for bioethanol, strengthening farmer incomes and domestic energy resilience.
