Uttar Pradesh Minister of State for Excise and Prohibition, Nitin Agarwal, announced that the state’s excise department has signed 138 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) worth Rs 39,582.39 crore. Of these, 45 projects amounting to Rs 7,538.73 crore are ready for a groundbreaking ceremony.
The announcement was made during a departmental meeting chaired by the Minister at Vidhan Bhawan on 16 April, 2025, with senior officials including Principal Secretary (Excise) Veena Kumari and commissioner Dr Adarsh Singh in attendance.
The Minister instructed officials to maintain active coordination with entrepreneurs to facilitate the establishment of the remaining units and ensure their inclusion within the department’s purview. He noted that these efforts would "encourage maximum investment in the state and generate substantial employment opportunities."
He also called for outreach to leading alcohol companies to establish production units in Uttar Pradesh, highlighting new provisions in the state’s excise policy aimed at fostering investment and enhancing exports.
