Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on 10 September, 2025 inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth around Rs 66 crore in Gujarat’s Sanand Assembly constituency through video conferencing from New Delhi.
The Home Minister highlighted that projects in Sanand are focusing on roads, drinking water, healthcare, sanitation, and afforestation. He said irrigation and drinking water issues affecting 111 villages in the region are being resolved, with the first phase of works nearing completion at a cost of Rs 750 crore. Additional works worth about Rs 1,000 crore are also underway to ensure water supply to households and fields.
Industrial growth will further transform Sanand, adding that once the Dholera Special Investment Region becomes operational, the area will emerge as Gujarat’s most industrially developed tehsil. He also announced that chip manufacturing by Micron Technology will soon begin in Sanand, following the unveiling of India’s first indigenous 32-bit processor chip ‘Vikram-32’ at SEMICON India 2025.
