JSW Energy has synchronised the first 135 MW unit of the 8X135 MW lignite
based power project in Barmer district of Rajasthan, through its wholly owned
subsidiary Raj West Power.
The project is based on lignite to be mined from the Jalipa and Kapurdi
mines.
According to sources, the commercial operation was expected to commence in
October 2009 and the entire Rs 5,000 crore project is to be completed by October
2010. The project also involves an additional investment of Rs 702 crore for the
lignite mining. The entire power is likely to be sold to Rajasthan State
Electricity Distribution companies.
