Mandya District Co-operative Milk Producers Society's Union has envisaged establishment of mega dairy plant at Gejjalagere near Maddur Tehsil Dairy Campus in Mandya district of Karnataka.
The project to be taken up on turnkey basis will have a capacity of 10 lakh ltr per day which will be expanded upto 14 lakh ltr per day. The dairy project will also include milk processing, packing plant and powder plant.
The cost of the project is Rs 227.47 crore for which the Milk Union has sought financial assistance of Rs 100 crore from the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). The remaining amount will be contributed from its infrastructure fund.
In September 2017, the then Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah laid the foundation stone for the project. Work on the project was commenced in January 2018.
As per latest information available with Projects Today, machinery installation work for the project was underway with completion scheduled for August 2020. The commercial production was expected to commence by December 2020.
