Rs 8.06 Lakh Cr Contracts Awarded in Q1-Q3/FY26

Preliminary data indicate that a total of 11,591 contracts, valued at Rs 8,06,960.44 crore, were awarded during the first nine months (April–September) of FY26. These contracts, covering both domestic and international projects, were secured by 6,998 companies operating across various sectors. Of the total, 69 contracts were won by Indian companies for undertaking work overseas.

High-value project awards contributed significantly to the aggregate contract value finalised during the first three quarters. In particular, 150 mega-project contracts—each exceeding Rs 1,000 crore—were awarded, with a cumulative value of Rs 4,59,110.27 crore. These awards accounted for 56.9 percent of the total value of contracts finalised.

By Sectors

During the first three quarters (Q1–Q3/FY26), the Services & Utilities (Infrastructure) sector—covering Social and Transport infrastructure as well as Construction was the largest contributor to overall contract awards, accounting for 59.28 percent of the total. In aggregate, 9,601 contracts were awarded in this sector, with a combined value of Rs 4,78,400.6 crore.

The scale and volume of these awards underscore the government’s sustained focus on developing modern infrastructure to support the economy’s current growth momentum. While private sector participation in infrastructure development has increased in recent years, public agencies continue to dominate, accounting for roughly four-fifths of all project contracts awarded (in value terms) during the first three quarters of the current fiscal.Within the Infrastructure space, several key segments stood out as strong performers in Q1-Q3/FY26. These included Roadways, Real Estate, Power Distribution, Railways, Other Community Services, Water & Sewerage Pipeline & Distribution, Effluent Treatment, and Tourism & Recreation.

Orders & Contracts

In Q1-Q3/FY26, the Roadways sector witnessed significant activity, with 2,761 contracts awarded, amounting to Rs 1,20,520.44 crore. This sector accounted for 14.93% of the total contracts awarded during the period. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) emerged as a key contributor, awarding 155 road-building contracts with a combined value of Rs 27,256.68 crore. Among these, some of the major contracts included:

1. IRB Infrastructure Trust was awarded a Rs 9,270 crore contract for the tolling, operation, maintenance and transfer of Lucknow-Ayodhya section (km 15.400 to km 137.970) and Ayodhya-Gorakhpur section (km 136.759 to km 252.860) of NH-28 (new NH-27), along with the Lucknow-Sultanpur section (km 90.370 to km 217.795) of NH-731 in Uttar Pradesh, under TOT Bundle-17 on toll-operate-transfer (TOT) mode.

2. Dineshchandra R. Agrawal Infracon secured a Rs 5,729 crore contract for the construction of the Guwahati Ring Road, including sections from A. Chandrapur to Sonapur (km 55.540), the Jayanagar Underpass (km 163.237 to km 171.000) on NH-27, and the improvement of the 4–6 lane stretch of NH-27 from km 1097.150 to km 1184.700 in Assam, on a DBFOT (Toll) basis.

3. Galfar Engineering & Contracting SAOG was awarded a Rs 993 crore contract for the construction of a four-lane section of the Patna–Arrah–Sasaram corridor (Package-2), covering Garhani (km 73.700) to Patar (km 84.300), and the greenfield stretch from Sadisopur (NH-131G) to Asani (NH-319) from km 0.000 to km 35.800 of NH-119A in Bihar, under the hybrid annuity model (HAM).

4. NKC Projects secured a Rs 2,744 crore contract for the four-laning of the greenfield corridor from Suara (Sasaram) at km 0.000 to Garhani (SH-12) at km 74.432 (Package-1) of the Patna–Arrah–Sasaram corridor of NH-119A in Bihar, under HAM mode.

Orders & Contracts

In the Roadways sector, the Bihar State Road Development Corporation (BSRDCL) emerged as the leading player by awarding nine contracts worth Rs 13,021.78 crore. Some of the major awards included:

1. Vishwa Samudra Engineering secured a Rs 6,498 crore contract for the extension of the J.P. Ganga Path from Digha-Sherpur to Koilwar Road on HAM basis.

2. Adani Enterprises was awarded a Rs 5,338-crore HAM contract for the construction of the Ganga Path connecting Munger (Safiabad)-Bariyarpur-Ghorghat-Sultanganj Road .

Reporting brisk activities, the Real Estate sector saw awarding of 1,717 new contracts with a cumulative value of Rs 65,103.65 crore. Some of the notable projects included:

1. Keystone Realtors was awarded a Rs 4,521 crore contract by the Maharashtra Housing & Area Development Authority (MHADA) for the redevelopment of plots bearing C.S. No. 1/89 and 2/89 of the Salt Pan Division and C.S. No. 2/12 (Part) of the Sion Division, located at GTB Nagar, Sion Koliwada, Maharashtra.

2. Ahluwalia Contracts (India) secured a Rs 2,089 crore contract from DLF for civil and structural works, including rough finishing, for “The Dahlias,” DLF 5, Gurugram.

3. DEC Infrastructure & Projects was awarded a Rs 1,987.08 crore contract by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) for the construction of 3,112 Type-III residential units, including a single basement, stilt and three-level podium parking, one multi-level car parking facility, community centre, and CGHS dispensary, along with all development works and services. The project is being executed on an EPC (Mode-I) basis, including comprehensive maintenance and operation of services for 1,825 days after completion, as part of the redevelopment of the General Pool Residential Colony at Sriniwaspuri (Package-1), New Delhi.

During the review period, the Power Distribution sector recorded 635 new contract awards, amounting to a total investment of Rs 56,076 crore. Key projects among these include:

1. Diamond Power Infrastructure was awarded a Rs 1,349.11 crore contract by Adani Energy Solutions for the supply of 24,080 kilometres of AL-59 high-performance conductors. The supplies will be deployed across marquee transmission projects such as Jamnagar, Khavda-IV D, HVDC, Navinal-II, and Mahan-II in Gujarat.

2. Pace Digitek secured a Rs 1,159.31 crore contract from the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for the supply of a 600 MW/1,200 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), including 10 years of service and maintenance (DC Package).

3. BSR Infratech India was awarded a Rs 1,082.44 crore turnkey contract for the supply, laying, testing, and commissioning of 220 kV, 1,000 sq.mm XLPE underground copper cables, including associated accessories and services for jointing, terminations, site testing, and commissioning. The project involves diversion of multiple 220 kV transmission lines passing through the Seed Capital Region (from N10 to the end of CRDA limits) in Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh, covering approx 55 km of UG cabling across several corridors.

In the Railways sector, a positive trend was observed with the finalisation of 202 new contracts, amounting to a total value of Rs 46,164.91 crore. Some of the notable contracts include:

1. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) secured a Rs 5,870 crore contract from Chennai Metro Rail for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of Chennai Metro Rail Phase II, covering Corridor-3 (Madhavaram Milk Colony to Siruseri SIPCOT-II), Corridor-4 (Lighthouse to Poonamallee Bypass), and Corridor-5 (Madhavaram Milk Colony to Sholinganallur), including maintenance depots at Madhavaram, Poonamallee, and Semmancheri.

2. Larsen & Toubro was awarded a Rs 4,467.72 crore contract by the National High Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL) for the design, supply, and construction of track and associated works, including testing and commissioning, on a design-build, lump-sum basis for the double-line Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor between Bandra-Kurla Complex (km -0.255) and Zaroli Village (km 156.600) in Maharashtra and Gujarat.

3. Dineshchandra R. Agrawal Infracon (in consortium with Siemens and Siemens Mobility) bagged a Rs 4,140.06 crore contract from NHSRCL for the design, manufacture, supply, installation, integration, testing, commissioning, and comprehensive maintenance of the signalling and train control system, telecommunication system, and operation control centre system for the MAHSR Project.

The Other Community Services sector experienced a significant upswing with the conclusion of 2,110 new contracts, collectively valued at Rs 45942.17 crore. Some of the major contracts in this sector include:

1. NBCC (India) secured a major contract worth Rs 2,966.10 crore from the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) for providing project management consultancy (PMC) services for the development of Naveen Nagpur – Phase 1.

2. Larsen & Toubro bagged a Rs 2,198.43 crore contract from the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) for the construction of Common Central Secretariat Buildings 6 and 7 at Plot No. 22B & 22C, Maulana Azad Road, New Delhi.

3. Shapoorji Pallonji & Co. won a Rs 1,487.11 crore contract from the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) for the construction of the integrated Andhra Pradesh State Secretariat and HoD offices (Towers 1 and 2) at the Amaravati Government Complex in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh.

The Water & Sewerage Pipeline & Distribution sector recorded robust growth with the award of 632 project contracts, cumulatively valued at Rs 41,023.33 crore. Key contracts finalized during the period include:

1. Megha Engineering & Infrastructures secured a major contract worth Rs 3,374.80 crore from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB). The project covers Phase II and Phase III of the Godavari Drinking Water Supply Project, along with the filling of Osmansagar and Himayathsagar reservoirs for the rejuvenation of the Musi River, under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM).

2. NCC won a Rs 2,090.50 crore contract from the Water Resources Department (WRD), Government of Bihar, for the construction of the Barnar Reservoir, which also includes dam structures, irrigation channels, and associated infrastructure.

3. Apco Infratech bagged a Rs 2,050.69 crore contract from the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) for the design, construction, and commissioning of a new 3,000 mm diameter mild steel water main from the tunnel shaft at Gundavali (Bhiwandi) to the dome near Wye Junction (Modaksagar)-Package I, covering the stretch from Gundavali to the Jambhivali Anchor Block in Maharashtra.

The Water, Sewage & Effluent Treatment sector registered notable activity with the award of 207 new project contracts, cumulatively valued at Rs 19,512.56 crore. A key highlight during the period was a Rs 3,145 crore contract awarded to Welspun Enterprises by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM). The project entails the development of a new 910 MLD water treatment plant at Panjrapur, comprising civil, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation works, to be executed on a design, build, and operate (DBO) basis.

The Tourism & Recreation sector recorded notable momentum with the finalisation of 248 contracts, collectively valued at Rs 15,352.83 crore. A marquee project during the period was a Rs 6,481.95 crore contract awarded to Larsen & Toubro by the Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation. The project comprises the engineering, procurement and construction, as well as operation and maintenance (on a Lump-Sum cum Item Rate basis), of “ADVAIT LOK (Acharya Shankar Museum Complex and Parking) (EPC-2)” at Omkareshwar, District Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh.

The Hospitals sector witnessed a notable upswing with the award of 298 new contracts, collectively valued at Rs 10,896.64 crore. A key highlight was a Rs 2,062.71 crore contract secured by NCC from the Public Works Department (PWD), Assam, for the expansion and modernisation of the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital in Guwahati, Assam.

The Telecom Services sector witnessed significant activity with the awarding of 41 new contracts, collectively valued at Rs 10,588.94 crore. Among these, Polycab India secured a major contract worth Rs 4,099.69 crore from Bharat Sanchar Nigam. (BSNL). The project covers the design, supply, construction, installation, upgradation, operation, and maintenance of the middle-mile network of BharatNet across Karnataka, Goa, and Puducherry.

During Q1-Q3 of FY26, the Manufacturing sector witnessed the awarding of 876 project contracts, with a total value of Rs 1,13,049.11 crore, accounting for 14.01 percent of the total contracts awarded across all sectors during the same period.

Within this sector, the Aircraft building activities stood out with 19 project contracts valued at Rs 67,227.47 crore. A key highlight was Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) securing a Rs 62,370 crore contract from the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, for the procurement of 97 Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Mk1A-including 68 fighter variants and 29 twin-seaters, along with associated equipment for the Indian Air Force.

The Arms & Ammunition sector also recorded strong momentum with 31 new contracts worth a cumulative Rs 14,603.59 crore. Among these, Bharat Dynamics secured a major Rs 2,461.62 crore contract from the Indian Army for the supply of Anti-Tank Guided Missiles (ATGMs) and Surface-to-Air Missiles (SAMs).

In the Railway Wagon & Equipment sector, 99 new contracts valued at Rs 11,712.47 crore were concluded. A notable award was the Rs 2,481 crore contract secured by Titagarh Rail Systems from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) for the design, manufacture, supply, and commissioning of 132 Metro coaches and associated systems for Mumbai Metro Line 5.

During Q1-Q3 of FY26, the Electricity sector played a pivotal role in the project-related orders landscape, accounting for 13.63 percent of the total share awarded. A total of 418 contracts were awarded within this sector, which also include non-conventional energy amounting to Rs 1,10,002.66 crore, underscoring the substantial investment and activities during the specified period.

Within this, the Coal/Lignite-based power sector received a major boost in the way of 82 new contracts valued at Rs 51,238.72 crore. Key contracts included:

1. Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) secured a major Rs 9,525 crore contract from Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company for the EPC package of Satpura TPS Sarni Unit 12 (1x660 MW) in Betul district, Madhya Pradesh. The scope covers design, engineering, manufacture, supply, construction, civil works, erection, testing, and commissioning on a single-point responsibility basis.

2. BHEL was also awarded a Rs 8,998.39 crore contract from Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company for the EPC package of the Amarkantak TPS, Chachai (1x660 MW) on a single-point responsibility basis, covering design, engineering, manufacture, supply, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning.

3. BHEL further secured a Rs 6,650 crore contract from NTPC for the EPC package of the 1x800 MW Darlipali Supercritical Thermal Power Project Stage-II in Sundargarh district, Odisha.

In the Solar-based power sector, the award of 226 new contracts totalling Rs 33,657.61 crore marked a significant milestone during the period. A major highlight was Dilip Buildcon, which secured an order valued at Rs 4,900 crore from the Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam. The contract covers the development, design, engineering, supply, construction, testing, commissioning, and operation & maintenance of grid-connected solar PV power plants under the PM-KUSUM (Component-C) Feeder Solarisation scheme, for the sale of power to MPPMCL over a 25-year period from COD.

In the Nuclear-based power sector, a noteworthy development was the finalisation of eight contracts with a cumulative value of Rs 13,794.01 crore. Among these, Megha Engineering & Infrastructures secured a Rs 12,799.92 crore mega contract from the Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL) for the Nuclear Island Mega EPC Package (NIMEP) for the Kaiga-5 and Kaiga-6 nuclear power projects.

Orders related to projects in the Mining sector accounted for 8.72 percent of the total share during the period. A total of 168 contracts, valued at Rs 70,381.78 crore, were awarded in this sector, reflecting sustained investment momentum, while underscoring the continued importance of mining in the overall project landscape.

Within the Coal sector, 114 project contracts were finalised, largely focused on mine development and operation activities. These contracts carried a combined value of Rs 63,561.81 crore. Key contracts included:

1. GRN Constructions secured a Rs 16,700.15 crore contract from NLC India for serving as the mine developer and operator (MDO) for the North Dhadu (Western Part) Coal Mine (three MTPA) in Latehar district of Jharkhand.

2. NCC bagged a Rs 6,828.94 crore contract from Central Coalfields for the hiring of HEMM for the removal of 413.59 MCuM of overburden, coal extraction by surface miner, transportation to Shivpur Siding and stockyard, and wagon loading of 139.995 MT of coal at Amrapali OCP, Amrapali–Chandragupt Area.

3. KNR Constructions secured a Rs 5,664.67 crore contract from NTPC for the development and operation of the Banhardih Coal Mining Block in Jharkhand.

In the Aluminium Ore (Bauxite) sector, a single project contract valued at Rs 5,000 crore was awarded. The contract was secured by Dilip Buildcon from National Aluminium Company (NALCO) for serving as the mine developer-cum-operator (MDO) for the development and operation of the Pottangi Bauxite Mines, along with the Overland Conveyor Corridor (OLCC) and associated facilities.

In the Irrigation sector, a total of 528 contracts valued at Rs 35,126.28 crore were awarded during Q1-Q3 FY26, reflecting strong momentum in water infrastructure and resource management projects. The Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project Corporation (ERCP) alone awarded five major contracts worth a combined Rs 14,847.16 crore, highlighting its central role in advancing irrigation infrastructure in the region. Some of the notable awards included:

1. Adani Enterprises (in JV with Cemindia Project) was awarded a Rs 4,799.50 crore contract for the construction of the Mor Sagar Artificial Reservoir and feeder from Bisalpur to Mor Sagar in Rajasthan, including all associated components, and operations & maintenance (O&M) for 20 years, executed under the hybrid annuity model (HAM).

2. Megha Engineering & Infrastructures secured a Rs 3,700.89 crore contract for the construction of the feeder system from Khura Chainpura to Jaisamand, Alwar, including all structural and civil components, along with 20-year O&M under the HAM framework.

3. Dilip Buildcon (in consortium with Ramky Infrastructure) bagged a Rs 2,905 crore contract for the construction of the feeder from Isarda to Khura Chainpura to Bandh Baretha, Bharatpur, encompassing all associated infrastructure and 20-year O&M, to be implemented under HAM.

Top States

During Q1–Q3/FY26, leading states across India recorded strong momentum in project contract awards, signalling sustained investment intent and continued infrastructure build-out. Maharashtra topped the list with 1,823 contracts valued at Rs 1,22,379.35 crore, underlining its strength across Infrastructure, Electricity, Real Estate, and Industrial projects.

Madhya Pradesh ranked second, with 682 contracts amounting to Rs 66,416.05 crore, supported mainly by sectors like Energy, Roadways, and Tourism. Andhra Pradesh placed third, with contracts worth Rs 49,512.10 crore, reflecting robust capital expenditure in Irrigation, Power Distribution, and Real Estate.

Bihar stood fourth, awarding contracts valued at Rs 43,230.61 crore, driven by significant spending on Roadways, Electricity, and Water & Sewerage projects. Rajasthan completed the top five with 309 contracts totalling Rs 38,164.49 crore, led by awards in Irrigation, Tourism, and Community Services.

Awarders & Awardees

The Government of India, Ministry of Defence emerged as the leading contract awarder, issuing 23 contracts with a total value of Rs 68,938.76 crore. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) came second by awarding 157 contracts worth Rs 29,863.10 crore, followed by the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA), which finalised 40 contracts totalling Rs 22,584.90 crore.

Among the 6,998 awardees which collectively clinched 11,591 project contracts, NBCC (India) stood out by securing 64 contracts, while Larsen & Toubro followed closely with 52 contracts, highlighting their prominent role in executing large-scale projects across sectors.

Overseas Contracts

During Q1-Q3/FY26, Indian companies secured 69 overseas contracts across diverse sectors, including Crude Oil/POL Pipelines, Power Distribution, Industrial Parks, Water, Sewage & Effluent Treatment, Solar-based Power, and more. These projects span countries such as the USA, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, among others.

Some of the major contracts include:

1. Welspun Corp achieved a significant milestone by securing an overseas contract valued at Rs 6,340.19 crore for the supply of coated pipes for natural gas and NGL pipeline projects in the USA.

2. GHV Infra Projects bagged a contract worth Rs 2,645 crore from Rana Exim FZ-LLC for the development of the Erisha Smart Manufacturing Hub, comprising industrial and commercial state-of-the-art buildings at Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone, UAE, executed on an EPC basis.

3. Va Tech Wabag secured a major contract worth Rs 2,332 crore from the Saudi Water Authority for the design, engineering, supply, construction, and commissioning of a 300 MLD mega desalination plant at Yanbu, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

4. PCI Africa Consortium was awarded a contract valued at Rs 1,340 crore for the upgrading and expansion of the Macassar Wastewater Treatment Works for the City of Cape Town, South Africa.
