After a strong showing in April, investment fell by nearly 68 percent to Rs 44,244.30 crore across 147 projects. Key areas, which attracted investment in May 2025, included Food Processing, Textiles, Pharmaceuticals, Cement, Electronics, and Automobiles. Hyundai Motor India%u2019s Rs 8,528 crore R&D centre in Telangana was the largest proposal in this segment.InfrastructureWith the infrastructure capex plans of the public sector for the FY2024-25, still in the initial stages (especially at the state levels), the new investment announcement in the Infrastructure sector remained at April 2025 levels. In all, 1,003 new infra projects worth Rs 96,309.82 crore were announced in May 2025. Sectors like Community Services (Rs 22,056.90 crore), Roadways (Rs 21,529.47 crore), Power Distribution (Rs 11,660.97 crore), and Real Estate (Rs 25,800.25 crore) accounted for the bulk of the new investment intentions.Irrigation and Mining These sectors remained marginal contributors, with Irrigation drawing Rs 8,270.68 crore and Mining just Rs 2,302.64 crore.BY STATESRajasthan and Gujarat emerged as the top investment destinations in May 2025, benefiting from a surge in Renewable energy projects. Together, they accounted for over 37.84 percent of the total fresh investment. The table topper, Rajasthan attracted Rs 1,01,883.19 crore across 132 projects, leading the list.
