Essar Steel has reaffirmed its plans of expanding
hot rolled coils capacity to 3.6 million tpa. The expansion plan would be
supported by an increase in capacity of iron pellets and sponge iron.
The overall project aims at enhancing HR coil
production to 3.6 million tpa from the current 2.4 million tpa. The project
would cost between Rs.500-700 crore and would be implemented in phases. The
project would span anything from six months to 18 months, depending on
availability of funds and market conditions.
