Bajaj Hindusthan commissioned its greenfield
sugar unit at Kinauni near Meerut in Uttar Pradesh on 5 November 2004. With a capacity of 7,000
tccpd, it is reportedly the largest refined sugar unit in India. The plant for
which the foundation stone was laid in March 2004 was set up at an investment of
Rs.155 crore. With this, the total capacity of BHL has risen to 5.2 lakh tpa.
Three other greenfield sugar units with a crushing capacity of 7,000 tccpd each are underway in
Muzaffarnagar and Bijnore districts of Western Uttar Pradesh. These units would be coming up at Bilai (Bijnor district), Thanabhawan and Bhaisana (both in Muzaffarnagar district.)
