The Union minister of state for
commerce & industry, Mr Babulal Gaur, reviewed the physical progress of the
upcoming Bina petroleum refinery, on 24 August 2006. The petroleum refinery
being promoted by Bharat Petroleum Corporation, through a special purpose
vehicle, Bharat Oman Refineries, is coming up at Bina in Sagar district of
Madhya Pradesh. The project costing Rs.10,378 crore is scheduled for
commissioning by end-2009.
It has been reported that around
Rs.200 crore has already been spent on the project and contracts worth Rs.600
crore awarded. The refinery project will involve 500 permanent staff members,
2,000 temporary works and 10,000 labourers during the construction and
commissioning period.
The 6 million tpa refinery would
produce Euro IV compliant petrol and diesel.
