Jindal Steel and Power (JSPL) has bagged Rs.42,000 crore project to convert
coal into liquid petroleum.
The Central Government has allotted Ramchandi promotional coal block in
Orissa to JSPL for the project coming up in Angul district of Orissa. The
coal-to liquid petroleum project is likely to require 30 million tonne of washed
coal to produce 80,000 bpd of crude oil. JSPL intends to utilise waste generated
from this project as fuel to generate 1,350 MW of power.
The project received 22 offers. Bidders included Reliance Industries, Reliance Infrastructure, SAIL, GAIL, Indian Oil Corporation , GMR Infra and Vedanta .
