Two hydel power projects proposed by NHPC in Uttarakhand are facing delays
due to unavailability of the necessary clearances from the MoEF and the Ministry
of External Affairs.
The two projects are the 55 MW
Karmoli Lumti Tulli at Dhamigaon and 630 MW
Garba Tawaghat at Garba which are, currently, awaiting Stage I site
clearance for survey and investigation activities from the MoEF. This is because
the National Board for Wildlife is yet to accord its clearance, given that the
projects fall within the Askot Musk Deer Sanctuary.
As a result, preparation of the DPR has come to a standstill.
