The Karnataka Government has entered into an MoU with Bangalore based NSL
Sugars to revive the ailing Aland Cooperative sugar factory at Bhusnur village
in Aland taluk on lease, rehabilitate, operate and transfer basis.
The factory has been leased out to NSL for a period of 30 years for Rs 75
crore.
NSL Sugars is to expand the present crushing capacity of 1,250 to 2,500 tpd.
The company is also likely to set up a 15 MW cogeneration power plant and a 30
kilo litre per day distillery and ethanol unit within five years from the date
of the signing of the lease agreement.
The company has been asked to submit a DPR to the state government within six
months on modernisation and expansion of the crushing capacity, and setting up
cogeneration plant, distillery and ethanol unit.
