Jindal Steel and Power (JSPL) is likely to sign an MoU with the Orissa
Government for setting up a Coal to Liquid (CTL) project in Orissa in a few
months time.
The project estimated to cost Rs 45,000 crore is likely to come up either in
Paradip or Angul. Around 2,000 acre will be required for the project which is
targeted to be completed in eight years.
JSPL has been allotted the Ramchandi coal block in Talcher, having a coal
reserve of more than one billion tonne for the project.
The CTL project is to have a capacity to produce 80,000 barrels of liquid
products per day which include transport diesel, naphtha, gasoline and wax. The
company will convert coal into gas using the fixed bed dry bottom coal
