The Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) Government is expected to set up 56 micro-hydel
power projects and 3,000 biogas plants in the state.
The state government sent a proposal for installation of these hydel projects
to the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and the proposal has been sanctioned.
Similarly, proposal for installation of 3,000 biogas plants for the year 2010-11 was also sent, for which the ministry has agreed to provide financial assistance.
Also, the Union Government approved setting up of 191 solar power plants, 69
for health institutions and 121 for community information centres in the state.
