Panabaka Lakshmi, Union Textile Minister for States, is expected to inaugurate the textile centre at Taliparamba in Kannur district, promoted by the Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation, on 16 April 2010.

Of the 124 acre, 94.80 acre will be allotted for setting up textile units. The centre has been divided into six pockets and one of them will be the proposed wet processing area, which will comprise the common effluent treatment plant, dyeing and winding plant, bonded warehouse, water harvesting pond and a hazardous waste treatment plant.

Another plot of 33.76 acre has been reserved for the establishment of weaving units, while a mini-apparel park spread over 9.70 acre is expected to house the standard design factory, apart from a crèche and a dispensary.
