The master plan for the proposed cyberpark in Kozhikode district of Kerala is
likely to be ready by May 2010.
Currently, the Kerala Government is evaluating the price bids submitted by
five architect companies and final selection is likely to be made soon.
The 43 acre required for the project is being acquired by a fast-track
mechanism and through negotiated purchases. Land acquisition is likely to be
completed by end-April 2010 after which the Union Government is likely to be
approached for getting SEZ status for the park.
The State Government is likely to spend around Rs 43 crore for acquisition of
land and a further Rs 250 crore over the next four years for providing basic
infrastructure and construction of buildings.
Cyberpark hubs are planned in Kannur and Kasaragod. Theses
two parks are estimated to cost Rs 150 crore each over a five-year period. The
park in Kannur, for which 27 acre has already been acquired, has received the
SEZ approval and the preliminary work there is slated to commence by May 2010.
In Kasaragod, around 100 acre in the possession of Plantation Corporation of
Kerala is likely to be used for establishing the park. The state government has
already approved the transfer of the land to the IT Department, which will
facilitate seeking SEZ status for the park.
