Bridgestone India, subsidiary of Bridgestone Corporation, Japan, on 26 April
2010 signed an MoU with the Maharashtra Government to set up a manufacturing
facility for passenger car radial tyres (PCR) and truck and bus radial tyres (TBR)
at Chakan near Pune, Maharashtra.
The Chakan facility is likely to be set up at an investment of around Rs
2,600 crore which will be made in a phased manner. The plant is likely to have a
capacity to make 10,000 units of PCR and 3,000 units of TBR per day by 2020.
The plant is likely to commence commercial production of PCR by January 2013
and TBR by August 2013.
