Adani Green Energy (AGEL), the renewable arm of the Adani Group, has achieved a historic milestone by surpassing 15,000 MW (15.5 GW) of installed operational capacity, making it the largest renewable energy company in India and one of the top 10 independent power producers globally.
As of June 2025, AGEL’s total capacity stands at 15,539.9 MW, according to an exchange filing. This capacity is enough to power approx. 7.9 million households and offset 28.6 million tonne of carbon emissions annually. AGEL added 3,309 MW in FY25 alone, marking the highest annual renewable addition by any Indian company, and achieved a 5,000 MW increase in just 15 months. Of its portfolio, solar accounts for 11,005.5 MW, wind for 1,977.8 MW, and hybrid projects for 2,556.6 MW. The company’s future growth centres around its Khavda project in Gujarat, expected to reach 30,000 MW by 2029.
Marking its 10th year of operations, AGEL highlights several landmark projects, including the 648 MW Kamuthi solar plant in Tamil Nadu (commissioned in FY16), the 2,140 MW hybrid project in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan (FY23), and its flagship Khavda mega-project currently under development. The latter spans 538 sq. km, it is set to become the world’s largest renewable energy plant. As of now, 5,355.9 MW has already been commissioned, with a goal to reach 30,000 MW of capacity by 2029.
