The Union government has approved a Rs 282-crore infrastructure upgrade along the Gurugram–Kotputli–Jaipur section of National Highway 48, with the foundation stone laid by Union Minister of State for Road, Transport and Highways & Corporate Affairs, Harsh Malhotra.
The project includes the construction of four flyovers at Panchgaon Chowk, Rathiwas, near Hero Company, and Sahlawas, as well as nine foot overbridges (FOBs) at Shikhopur, Manesar, Binola, Rathiwas, Malpura, Jaisinghpurkhera, Sidhrawali, Kharkhara, and Khijuri. These works target accident-prone stretches and form part of the larger infrastructure pipeline worth over Rs 80,000 crore currently underway in the NCR.
Malhotra emphasized that “the national highway network in the country has expanded from 91,000 km in 2014 to over 1.46 lakh km, making it the second-largest globally.” He highlighted that high-speed corridors have increased from 93 km to 2,474 km, and highway construction has accelerated to a record 34 km per day, reflecting India’s growing focus on connectivity and road safety.
