In Rajasthan, transmission infrastructure to evacuate 15.5 GW of renewable energy (RE) capacity has been commissioned, as confirmed by Shripad Naik, Minister of State for Power, in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha on 08 December, 2025.
The strengthening of the transmission network is being carried out through both interstate (ISTS) and intrastate transmission system (InSTS) projects to meet the rising demand and facilitate the evacuation of renewable energy. In addition to the existing 15.5 GW capacity, ISTS projects for another 51.5 GW are currently under implementation. Over the past three years, 15 ISTS substations have been sanctioned in Rajasthan to enhance the transmission network. The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) is also implementing the Green Energy Corridor (GEC) Phase-I and Phase-II schemes, dedicated to renewable power transmission.
Under GEC-I, transmission projects covering 1,054 ckm of lines and 1,915 MVA transformation capacity have been commissioned, while GEC-II projects, covering 659 ckm and 2,191 MVA transformation capacity, are at various stages of implementation.
