Tata Power Delhi Distribution (Tata Power-DDL) has partnered with Magna Yuma to establish battery-swapping stations for electric vehicles (EVs) in Delhi, aiming to accelerate the adoption of clean energy and promote sustainable mobility.
Under the agreement, Tata Power-DDL will provide dedicated space at its facilities, while Magna Yuma will handle the design, procurement, installation, and maintenance of the battery-swapping infrastructure. The initial rollout includes two stations located at Tata Power-DDL’s Shalimar Bagh (Centre Grid) and Badli Grid substations in North Delhi. Tata Power-DDL serves around nine million residents in North Delhi, making it a key player in the capital’s energy ecosystem.
The collaboration seeks to reduce EV downtime through quick battery swaps, ultimately making EV usage more practical for Delhi commuters. Dwijadas Basak, CEO of Tata Power-DDL, emphasised that the initiative aligns with the company's mission to support green energy adoption and environmentally friendly transport solutions. By integrating EV infrastructure with existing power utilities, the project highlights a scalable model for urban centres aiming to meet India’s growing clean mobility goals. The venture is expected to support the capital's transition toward a low-carbon transport system.
