Department of Tourism, Goa, has initiated 32 tourism projects in Goa and most of the projects are expected to come up in hinterland.
Some of the projects include the Institute of Hotel Management at Farmagudi, Ponda, the beautification of the Mayem Lake in Bicholim taluka, and other projects in hinterland talukas of Sanguem and Quepem.
The state government is eager to sanction projects related to tourism in the hinterland but these areas also need to have essential infrastructure like good roads.
The hinterland is the land or district behind a coast or the shoreline of a river. It is basically the inland region lying behind a port, claimed by the state that owns the coast.
