The construction of Ramayapatnam Port is progressing rapidly, with 80 percent of Phase-I works now completed.
Located in Prakasam district, this deep-sea port is expected to significantly boost industrial growth in both Prakasam and Nellore districts, providing an alternative to Visakhapatnam and Chennai. The port, being developed at a cost of Rs 4,922 crore across 2,000 acres near Chevuru in Gudluru, will have a cargo handling capacity of millions of tonne per annum. Developed under the AP Maritime Board, the port’s infrastructure is advancing with the completion of two breakwater berths, a link road, and 20 percent of the railway line. The District Collector, Rajababu, reviewed land acquisition and project progress, expressing satisfaction with the pace of work.
The DC confirmed that Phase-I would be completed by April this year and highlighted the strategic importance of the BPCL refinery that will accompany the port. "The Ramayapatnam port and BPCL projects are vital for the region’s development," he noted.
