The Airports Authority of India (AAI) will develop five no-frills airports, as per the announcement by the Civil Aviation Ministry.
The airports will be built in Teju in Arunachal Pradesh, Krishna Nagar in Rajasthan, Jharsuguda in Orissa, and Hubli and Belgaum in Karnataka. These have been shortlisted from 50 cities and towns in remote areas across India.
Each airport will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 50 crore and the service in these five locations will commence during the current fiscal year.
It will be constructed in the form of modules, which means a block can be added once there is an increase in demand.
