The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh declared Vijayawada as the new capital of the state, on 4 September, 2014. Vijayawada being easily accessible in comparison to other districts, made the decision easier.
The government plans to develop three mega cities and Vijayawada is one of them. Different institutions, industries and other projects will be undertaken in these cities, based on the development model.
The chief minister has promised major project developments for the new Andhra capital. As per the state government plan, Vijayawada city will be an automobile and logistics hub with the proposed projects.
With the necessary development, it will act as a catalyst for the economic development of Andhra Pradesh.
