ABB India has announced an investment of over Rs 140 crore to expand and modernise its low voltage (LV) motors manufacturing facility, reinforcing its position as a global innovation hub.
This move coincides with the launch of India’s first locally manufactured IE5 ultra-premium efficiency motor range, which is based on proven induction technology without rareearth metals. These IE5 motors offer up to 40% lower energy losses compared to IE3 models, enabling faster returns on investment, lower total ownership costs, and longer operational life. Designed specifically for Indian conditions, the motors support both direct-on-line and variable frequency drive operations, making them suitable for industries like metals, cement, textiles, pharmaceuticals, food & beverage, and paper.
Stefan Floeck, ABB’s IEC Low Voltage Motors President, emphasised the strategic importance of the investment to meet growing demand for energy-efficient industrial solutions, aligning with ABB’s vision of sustainability and manufacturing excellence in India.
