Asian Development Bank has planned to
nearly double its lending to Indian projects from $1.2 billion in 2005 to $2.25
billion in 2006.
The focus of ADB lending would be on
energy and transportation projects, with reduced emphasis on agriculture. In
2007, ADB has planned to increase its exposure to India further to $2.65
billion.
This development is in line with ADB's
announcement made in September 2005 that lending to India would be doubled in
the short term to $3 billion.
