AM Green and Mitsui have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore collaboration opportunities in the low-carbon aluminium sector.
The MoU will also assess investment potential within AM Green’s metal value chain, with Mitsui’s investment supporting the development of the world’s first integrated green aluminium production platform. As part of its green initiatives, AM Green, through its subsidiary AM Green Aluminium Metals and Materials, has signed an agreement with the Andhra Pradesh government last month, to establish a one-million-tonne-per-year green aluminium complex.
This complex will include a primary aluminium smelter with a one MTPA capacity and a two MTPA alumina refinery and mining operation, all powered by renewable wind and solar energy, supported by pumped hydro storage. Additionally, Coal India will supply 4.5 GW of renewable power to AM Green from May 2025 to support its various business operations, marking a significant step in advancing clean energy solutions.
