On 10 November, 2025, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to create an action plan for the development of the Visakha Economic Region (VER), spanning from Srikakulam to Konaseema districts.
The focus will be on formulating policies to attract investment and boost economic growth. During a review meeting, Naidu emphasized enhancing cargo handling at Mulapet and Kakinada ports, as they serve key regions like Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Maharashtra. He also proposed the development of the East-West Coastal Corridor and highlighted the need for green energy projects.
CM Naidu envisioned Visakhapatnam as a global IT hub with the upcoming Google AI Data Centre and stressed its potential as a healthcare hub. The VER could attract investments of USD 100– 115 billion, including significant contributions from the Central government and private sector.
