The Gujarat Cabinet has approved a proposal to widen the Ahmedabad–Mehsana highway from the current four lanes to an eight-lane corridor.
This 51 km project, which will cost Rs 2,630 crore, aims to alleviate congestion and improve traffic flow. With over 100,000 vehicles passing daily, the expansion will reduce travel time between Ahmedabad and Mehsana from 60 minutes to around 45–50 minutes. The project will also include a 6.1 km elevated corridor through Kalol city, easing traffic congestion, and connecting key flyovers and overbridges.
State government spokesperson Jitu Vaghani emphasized, “Upon completion, people from Mehsana, Patan, and Banaskantha districts in North Gujarat will benefit significantly.” The upgraded highway will feature eight flyovers, eight underpasses, and widened existing structures. The project is expected to be completed within two years after the tendering process.
