Alpex Solar has announced an upgrade to its proposed solar cell facility in Kosi Kotwan, Uttar Pradesh, increasing the capacity from 1.6 GW to 2.2 GW.

The transition will incorporate advanced G12R tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) technology, with a total capital expenditure (capex) of Rs 31.36 billion, funded entirely through internal accruals. The project will be completed in two phases: the first phase will establish 1.4 GW of G12R TOPCon capacity, with trial production slated for Q1 of 2026–27.

The second phase will add an additional 800 MW, expected to be completed within six months of the first phase. The entire 2.2 GW facility is projected to become operational in 2026–27, further solidifying Alpex Solar's position in the renewable energy sector.
