Alstom, the
international major in manufacture of transmission and distribution (T&D) equipment,
plans to double its production capacity in India. The company plans to focus on
increasing the production of high voltage and medium voltage switchgears. Alstom
expects a spur in its T&D equipment business by 2004-05.
Further, the
company plans to foray into the distribution management through remote
monitoring and control of the equipment. In this regard, the company plans to
enhance the outsourcing capability from its Noida software facility.
Since 1999,
Alstom has invested $150 million (Rs.705 crore approx) in India.
