Andhra Pradesh Energy Minister G Ravi Kumar on 03 September, 2025 announced that the state government is expediting transmission network expansion projects worth Rs 14,962 crore to meet the increasing electricity demand.
The projects, spread across 400 kV, 220 kV, and 132 kV transmission levels, are aimed at strengthening grid reliability and supporting rapid industrial and infrastructure growth. Kumar directed officials to focus on speed, quality, and strict adherence to deadlines, with particular attention to works connected to ports, industrial hubs, and the upcoming capital region.
“The state government is prioritising the fast-track implementation of transmission network expansion worth Rs 14,962 crore at 400 kV, 220 kV, and 132 kV levels across the state,” the Minister said in an official release. He emphasised that the expansion will play a vital role in ensuring uninterrupted supply for industries, urban centres, and rural areas.
With power demand rising due to industrialisation and urbanisation, the government has taken up these projects as a strategic measure to boost economic development and strengthen the energy sector.
