Union Minister for Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw announced a Rs 9,417 crore allocation for various Railway projects in Andhra Pradesh for 2025-26.
The state’s railway network is now fully electrified, and the South Central Railway (SCR) leads in implementing Kavach, with 1,465 km installed. Over the past decade, 1,560 km of new railway track was laid in the state, exceeding Sri Lanka's total railway network.
Eight Vande Bharat trains operate in Andhra Pradesh, covering 15 districts and 21 halts, along with the Amrit Bharat Express at 14 stations. The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme redevelops 73 stations, while plans include 50 new Namo Bharat trains, 200 Vande Bharat trains, and 100 new Amrit Bharat trains.
Upgrades are underway to enable trains to run at speeds of 160 km/hr on key sections, with some routes reaching 130 km/hr, and the overall network capacity will support 100 km/hr speeds.
