Following the Union Budget 2026 announcement by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Apogee Aerospace has revealed plans to invest up to Rs 500 crore in seaplane production.
The company also announced a strategic collaboration with Amphibian Aerospace Industries to introduce the Albatross 2.0 amphibious aircraft platform to India. This investment will be used to establish tail-section manufacturing, maintenance and overhaul (MRO) facilities, training infrastructure, and advanced systems integration capabilities in India. As part of the collaboration, Apogee Aerospace has placed an order for 15 Albatross 2.0 aircraft, valued at approx. Rs 3,500 crore. The companies see a strong demand for these aircraft from India’s military, including the Navy and Coast Guard. The first seaplane is expected in 18 to 24 months.
“We have one or two very suitable sites and we have one or two really pointed pointers as to where we will start this manufacturing facility. But the ecosystem and the capability to be able to do this work has been very established,” said Wing Commander MVN Sai (Retd), Chairman and Managing Director of Apogee Aerospace, regarding plans for manufacturing of the tail section of the aircraft.
