On 7 September 2007, the ministry of
commerce and industry approved setting up a container freight station and
logistics park at Jawaharlal Nehru Port.
The project to be spread over 41 acres
of land, will be implemented by Arshhiya Technologies, entailing an
investment of Rs.350 crore. The container freight station is being set up to
handle export and import cargo. The logistics park will have a warehousing area,
container storage and refurbishment yard. These facilities would help exporters,
importers and shipping companies in facilitating customs, brokerage, sea and
land transportation, storage and refurbishing marine containers.
