Gandhar Refinery has entered into a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) to collaborate on the development of a terminal at Vadhvan Port in Maharashtra.
The proposed terminal will be designed to handle containers, bulk cargo, and liquid cargo, alongside the creation of essential supporting infrastructure. The project is expected to play a strategic role in enhancing port capacity and operational efficiency on India’s western coast. With an estimated investment of approx. Rs 1,000 crore, the terminal development reflects Gandhar Refinery’s commitment to diversifying its logistical and infrastructural capabilities.
The agreement aligns with India’s larger maritime infrastructure expansion goals under the Sagarmala initiative, which aims to modernise ports and improve connectivity. The terminal is slated to become operational by 2030, providing a long-term solution to increasing cargo demands and supporting industrial growth in the region.
The MoU also highlights the growing interest from private sector players in contributing to India’s port infrastructure.
