The Maharashtra Government is mulling to set up an artificial Sea World in
Konkan region by 2011.
Currently, feasibility report for the project is being prepared by the Pune
based Science and Technology Park which is likely to be ready by October 2010.
The MoU has been signed for the same with the Maharashtra Tourism Development
Corporation.
According to sources, the sea world may come up at either Raigad, Ratnagiri
or Sindhudurg.
The project is likely to be set up on a 150-acre land at the cost of Rs 150
crore. The Sea World is likely to have an artificial sea that will represent the
marine life. Once the feasibility report is in place, the state government is
likely to seek funds from the Union Government to implement the project.
