Asian Paints, India’s largest paint producer, has announced plans to set up a new manufacturing facility in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, with an investment of Rs 1,500-2,000 crore.
The proposed greenfield unit will focus on water-based paints with an annual production capacity of four lakh kilolitres (kl), raising the company’s total installed capacity to 26 lakh kl. Managing Director and CEO Amit Syngle confirmed that land has already been acquired, and necessary approvals are in process.
Asian Paints currently operates plants across Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. Demand is being driven by government infrastructure projects and a revival in the auto sector. With over 1.65 lakh dealers and 4,000–5,000 being added annually, the CEO sees strong potential, noted, “We expect more consolidation in the paint industry and new foreign players in coming months.”
