Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the newly constructed Bhagadatta Flyover-2 on 06 July, 2025, which connects Rukminigaon Road and Bormotoria Link Road at Downtown Point in Guwahati.
Built at a cost of Rs 112 crore, the 660-mtrs.-long, four-lane flyover was completed in a record nine months, half the sanctioned time of eighteen months. Named after King Bhagadatta of Kamarupa, the new structure is part of the state's broader plan to modernise Guwahati’s transport infrastructure and ease traffic congestion. The existing flyover in the Super Market area will now be officially called Bhagadatta Flyover-1.
In his address, CM Sarma emphasized the use of advanced composite structure technology, marking only the second instance in India where this method has been employed by the Government of India’s agency, RITES India. He praised the young professionals who executed the project. Provisions for vehicle parking beneath the flyover have been included to benefit local businesses.
