ONGC Tripura Power Co has placed a
letter of award (LoA) on consortium of Bharat Heavy Electricals and General
Electric (GE) for setting up a 720 MW Tripura gas based power project in Udaipur.
The contract is valued at $512 crore (approx Rs.2,200 crore)
The first unit of 360 MW will be
installed in 42 months, followed by the second unit, to be completed within
another three months.
In addition to generation, the project
includes transmission of the power, for which an independent SPV - a joint
venture between PGCIL, OTPC and North-Eastern Region (NER) beneficiaries - will
develop a transmission system, to connect Palatana with the national grid at
Bongaigaon. The cost of this transmission system is estimated to be around
Rs.1,800 crore.
