The consortium of Hitachi Energy India and Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) has received a letter of intent (LoI) from Rajasthan Part-1 Power Transmission, an SPV under Adani Energy Solutions, to design and execute a high voltage direct current (HVDC) project.

The scope of the project involves establishing +800 kV HVDC line commutated converter (LCC) terminal stations at Bhadla and Fatehpur with a total transmission capacity of 6,000 MW (4x1500 MW). Additionally, the project includes associated AC substations for seamless integration into the power grid. This link will play a pivotal role in enhancing energy security, and stabilising power supply by evacuating power from solar-rich regions like Bhadla, one of the largest solar parks in the world.

The project is set to be executed over multiple years. This development, with the aim to transmit renewable energy from Bhadla III (Rajasthan) to Fatehpur (Uttar Pradesh) will be formalised upon the execution of the contract at a later date. Hitachi Energy and BHEL continue to strengthen their position in India’s power transmission sector, even as this collaboration marks a significant step toward achieving India’s clean energy targets.
