BHEL and Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL), which have a joint
venture for undertaking EPC projects for nuclear plants, are likely to divest
equal stake from the venture in order to rope in a European partner.
The JV will have three partners with equal stake of about 33 per cent each.
The new partner is likely to provide technology for nuclear steam generators of
700, 1,000 and 1,600 MW capacity. The third partner is expected to be announced
by end-July 2009.
The JV company is likely to start manufacturing 1,000 MW and 1,600 MW
generator sets after 2012.
