Bharat Heavy Electricals bagged an EPC
contract for setting up a 99 MW (3x33 MW) captive power plant for Bharat Oman
Refinery's upcoming 6 million tpa Bina petroleum refinery in Madhya Pradesh. The
contract is valued at Rs.950 crore, according to statement released by
BHEL on 12 October 2006.
This order is the highest-valued captive power
plant order that BHEL has ever received. This is also for the first time that
BHEL would be constructing a power plant that would use petroleum coke as fuel.
BHEL's scope of work in the project
envisages design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning
of the power plant, in addition to complete civil works. Major equipment to be
supplied includes three 33 MW steam turbine generators and CFBC
Boilers of 275 tph capacity with petcoke/limestone handling systems and ash
handling system, other associated auxiliaries and balance of plant equipment.
The equipment for the project will be
supplied by BHEL's plants at Hyderabad, Trichy, Ranipet, Bhopal, Jhansi and
electronics division, Bangalore. Complete civil works and erection and
commissioning of the captive power plant will be carried out by the company's
Nagpur unit.
First unit of the project is scheduled
for completion within 26 months with full completion expected within 30 months.
